What is Balayage?

Balayage is a french coloring technique done by painting highlights free hand. Balayage translates to ‘sweeping’ in French, and gives a great visual to how the method is executed. While it has just recently become popular stateside, balayage originated in France in the 1970’s. The technique is wildly versatile and can be used for a gentle pop of lightness around the face or more intense methods such as ombre.

Why Balayage?

If your desired look is a more natural and organic then balayage is for you. Painted highlights mimic the suns touch as if you spent the whole summer on the beach. Whether you want a dramatic change or just a little brightening your balayage specialist at Roy Teeluck Salon will be able to offer you just the hair color change that you need. The grow out process of balayage is less severe than the regrowth line you often see with a foiling method, thus making the balayage approach more cost affective and low maintenance. Just because balayage is more low maintenance than a heavy foil does not mean you cannot achieve a bright blonde hair color, in fact it is a much healthier way to lighten your hair than in foil packets.
